Resident and Visitor Parking Permits

Resident parking schemes operated by Newport City Council are intended to help residents to find parking spaces near their homes.

A maximum of 2 parking permits per household are issued to residents of a street that has a resident parking scheme. 

Before completing this form check the map of resident parking schemes in Newport and ensure that you have everything that you need to apply online. (e.g. scanned or photographed documents)

If you are unable to apply online you can visit the Information Station. 


New permit or renewal of an existing permit

Permits cost £17.00 per year per vehicle and payment will be collected via a credit/debit card payment as part of the online application process.

Evidence required

  • Proof of address, such as a current utility bill or council tax bill, mortgage offer, solicitors offer or tenancy agreement dated within the last 3 months
  • Either the full vehicle registration document (not just the front page), the new keeper slip or the insurance documentation showing the address you are applying for a permit at

If you have a company car you also need to provide a scan or photograph of a letter on company headed paper detailing the car, make, model and registration number along with the driver’s name and address.


 Visitor permits

Passes for visiting friends and relatives are available at 70p per day either singly or in books of 10.
Payment will be collected via a credit/debit card payment as part of the online application process.
A maximum of 3 books of 10 visitor permits per year may be purchased.

Evidence required

  • Proof of residency of the person being visited is required  

Change of car details

An application for a replacement permit must be made at a charge of £5.00 which will be collected via a credit/debit card payment as part of the online application process

Evidence required

  • The new logbook or insurance document

Your new permit will not be issued until the old permit is returned to the council by post or in person at the Information Station.


Timescales

Permits will be processed and delivered within 10 working days of the date of making the online application.

You should only park in a permit holder area if you are displaying a valid permit.

New permit applications will start 7 days after the date of the online application

Renewal applications will start on the date that your existing pass expires

If you cannot wait 10 working days for the delivery of your permit please apply in person at the Information Station
