Private owners are responsible for the emptying and maintenance costs of facilities in respect of their own property. Newport City Council charges to empty domestic cesspits, cesspools or septic tanks. Current rates are: 

Up to 1,000 gallons	£110.00
Up to 2,000 gallons	£135.00

Complaints about cesspits which are overflowing, causing pollution or nuisance, or to arrange for a cess pit, cess pool or septic tank to be emptied, contact the council below.
